Free Club Examination
Central Texas Golf can examine your club from top to bottom and give you a rundown of any needed repairs or services it needs, free of charge!
Grip Removal & Installation
Your club’s grip is the only piece of equipment you touch during play, so it’s crucial to know you’re playing with the right size and grip condition. A grip that’s too small causes over-rotation during swing, while a grip that’s too large doesn’t allow your wrist to fully flex. Central Texas Golf can identify the correct grip size and style for you. Golf grips should be replaced once a year to maintain optimal play-ability.
Lie/Loft Adjustment
A dynamic loft & lie fitting is a must to any golfer who is serious about getting the most out of their game. Because golfers are so different in height, arm length, and body position, it is important that the lie angle of the irons be fitted for each golfer. Lie angles are described as too upright, too flat or correct. A lie angle that is too upright will cause the ball to be hit left of the target and a lie that is too flat, will cause the ball will be hit right of the target (right handed golfer example). Loft of the irons can be moved to acquire more or less distance. A proper 3-4 degree space between irons is suggested. Central Texas Golf can make your lie/loft adjustments correct to ensure your getting the best hit possible.
Club Assembly
Why purchase off the shelf golf clubs when you can build yourself a custom set? Central Texas Golf can assemble club heads, shafts, and grips into a complete club that is custom assembled just for you!
Re-Shafting (Graphite, Steel, or Bore Through)
The golf shafts are an integral piece of the golf club which should be replaced if damaged. If shafts are bent, cracking, splintering, or broken, they should be replaced. Central Texas Golf offers re-shafting of any club at a great price.
Re-Sizing (cut down & extend)
Standard length clubs are fine for people of average height and arm length, but using inappropriate clubs can cause major problems. A golfer’s stance can also affect how long his or her clubs should be. If a golfer tends to bend over the ball, then shorter clubs should be used. Of course, that bending over may be an indication that the clubs are too short. If a golfer’s clubs are too short, he or she will tend to push the ball. The golfer may also be sacrificing power in the swing. If a golfer’s clubs are too long, it will be much harder to control shots, and the extra length can cause heel shots and shanks.
Head Adjustment & Reset
Ensure your club head is adjusted properly. Central Texas Golf can adjust, or remove and reset your club head to ensure proper alignment or reset it back to the correct adjustment.
Ferrule Replacement
A ferrule is a component of most golf irons and some golf woods: it is the small, usually black, usually plastic cover over the point where the shaft enters the hosel. If this becomes broken, cracked, bent, or becomes loose, it can make the club look bad cosmetically. Central Texas Golf can replace ferrules to ensure a smooth transition and appearance between the shaft and the hosel.
Sensicore Installation
Sensicore is a vibration dampening shaft insert developed by True Temper for their golf shafts. A frequency tuned polymer core, located inside the shaft, eliminates up to 70% of unwanted vibration at impact. Sensicore radically improves feel and provides golfers the ability to practice and play longer because it decreases the harmful effects of “shock” on the hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders.
Spine Alignment
Central Texas Golf offers spine alignment of the golf shaft to increase its performance. Spine alignment will ensure that the spine is “downline” with the direction of the golf shaft (so the spine would be in the 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock position – also called the neutral position).
Swing Weight Check
The purpose of a swing weight check is to try to find the right swing weight feel in the golf club. Why is this important? There is a head weight feel for each golfer that will allow them to better control their swing tempo and be able to repeat their swing tempo/timing/rhythm more consistently so they can hit the ball more consistently.
Polishing
Polishing your golf clubs should be a standard part of your golf club maintenance routine once a year. Polishing golf clubs not only improves the cosmetic appearance of golf clubs, but it also protects the clubs against environmental factors such as dirt and water. Polishing golf clubs also helps maintain a clean club face and sole, which assures players that each ball strike is not affected from debris that may be on the face of the club.
Groove Sharpening
A very shallow and narrow groove creates two problems. The first is that the grass juices, or any water trapped between the club face and the ball, cannot escape. Think of it like worn tires on wet pavement. Secondly, the friction component between club head and ball is seriously reduced because of the small grooves, and also the very smooth face. Friction adds bite to the ball to reduce or eliminate the flyer effect. Sharp grooves add spin on the ball as well as performance on the golf course.
Crown Head Refinishing (Woods)
Golfers know the two most important factors on the golf course are to place a great score on the score card, and to look stylish while giving your friends or opponents a nice friendly smack down on the course after 18 holes. Refinishing your clubs will improve the looks and the playability. If you were to trade up or resale them down the road the better they look the more money you will get for them. Golf clubs are special tools. You take care of your tools and they will take care of you.
